Healthcare Experience. Fiduciary Perspective. Long-Term Continuity.
Our Story
For more than 30 years, Apex Health Advocates founder Brett Frankenberg has worked across the healthcare system as a clinician, executive, patient advocate, and healthcare leader.
Throughout that experience, one reality became increasingly clear:
Health challenges often create risks that families, advisors, and even well-designed plans are not prepared to manage.
When a serious diagnosis, hospitalization, cognitive decline, or sudden medical crisis occurs, families are often forced to make complex decisions under pressure. Critical information may be scattered, responsibilities unclear, and communication strained at precisely the moment clarity is needed most.
Traditional patient advocacy addresses these challenges after they appear.
Apex was built to help families prepare before they do.
Apex began with advocacy work—helping families navigate complex healthcare situations, coordinate care, resolve barriers, and make informed decisions during periods of uncertainty.
Over time, a larger pattern emerged.
The greatest challenges were rarely caused by a lack of effort or concern. More often, they stemmed from a lack of structure.
The right information wasn't available.
The right people weren't prepared.
Responsibilities weren't clearly defined.
Families were reacting instead of executing a plan.
That realization led to the development of the Private Health Advisory model.
Today, Apex works proactively with families and their advisors to organize health information, clarify responsibilities, strengthen decision-making structures, and maintain continuity over time—creating greater stability before a crisis occurs.
Depending on a family's needs, Apex may serve in several different capacities.
As a Private Health Advisor, we help families prepare for future healthcare challenges through ongoing planning, oversight, and coordination.
As a Board Certified Patient Advocate, we provide guidance and support during active healthcare events and complex medical situations.
As a California Licensed Professional Fiduciary, we may serve in designated fiduciary roles when appropriate, helping ensure continuity, accountability, and execution when families need it most.
While each role is distinct, they share a common purpose:
Helping families navigate healthcare challenges with greater clarity, stability, and confidence.
To provide the structure, continuity, and expertise families need to navigate an increasingly complex healthcare system—before, during, and after life's most significant health challenges.
